PREPARING FOR YOUR TRIP
– You must book your own flights.

– Inform yourself on the health risks of where you are travelling. Talk to your doctor or health professional before you travel to assess any health risks. Click here for more info.
– Ensure you have all the necessary vaccinations. Remember some vaccines are given over a course of a month, so make sure you have these well in advance before travelling. Click here for more info.
– You must arrange your own travel and health insurance. Click here for more info.
– Although it is not compulsory, if you are taking electronic devices such as laptops, cameras and lenses, it is recommended that you take out gadget insurance. You can add this onto some travel insurances, or take out a separate policy.
– Remember to take out any spending money in the correct currency. In Brazil the currency is the Brazilian Reales. If you will be using your bank card, remember to inform your bank that you are travelling abroad.
– As you will be working outdoors and in the rainforest, make sure you pack appropriate walking boots, and waterproof clothing, as well as taking insect repellent.
– Brazil uses American plugs (two pins), so take a couple of plug converters if you need to.
– If you can’t use your phone plan abroad, take out an international phone or sim card. You can talk to your network provider for more info.
– It’s always handy to keep photocopies and digital copies of any important documents such as your flight details, travel insurance, visas and passport. Also give a copy to your relatives back at home just in case.
– All our Brazil programmes are conducted in both English and Portuguese. Although it is not compulsory, it’s advised to learn some Portuguese, as that is the first language of Brazil, therefore you will be able to interact with the locals and it will make your stay easier.
– It’s always good to do some research on the country you will be travelling to, and as you will have free time, you may want to visit other parts of Brazil, take some tours, learn about the culture, and generally immerse yourself in the Brazilian way of life!
